Neglected diseases: several events to find out more and support the international fight

As part of World Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Day, which is celebrated every January 30, Institut Pasteur is organizing several events to mark this symbolic date:

– Thursday, January 25, at 2pm: Upcoming education webinar on “Neglected Tropical Diseases”. At this new session, you will have the opportunity to be online with Jean Jannin, general public health physician and Honorary President of the French-Speaking Society for Tropical Medicine and International Health.

– January 31, from 5 to 7pm : the Institut Pasteur and the DNDi (Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative) are organizing a conference entitled “Neglected diseases: successes, challenges and alternative models of innovation” on campus. It will be opened by Yasmine Belkaid, President of the Institut Pasteur, and Luis Pizarro, Director General of DNDi. The event, which will be held in the Émile Duclaux lecture hall, will reflect on 20 years of innovation and partnerships in this field and will consider the potential of a non-profit pharmaceutical research model in tackling the challenges of climate change and pandemic threats.

– Register now for the first edition of the “Neglected Tropical Diseases” MOOC, to be held in English from January 30 to April 3, 2024, and led by Brice Rotureau, Jean Jannin, and Cléa Melenotte. Intended for biology students, doctors, teachers, researchers, and more generally for all those interested in the neglected tropical diseases, this MOOC will cover the clinical features, diagnosis, treatment, and biology of certain NTMs, and identify current research topics with a view on eliminating them.
