March PEIC Session Update

🎉 Announcement: March PEIC Session Overview 🎉

After the amazing success of hosting our very first speaker (Dr. Sébastien Boyer) in our February session, we are delighted to announce our second speaker for our March session of the Pasteur English Immersion Club (PEIC)! Our ongoing goal remains the same: offering a forum for international college students to explore groundbreaking scientific research while refining their English skills.

🗓 Date & Time: March 27th (Wed), 17:00-18:00 Japan time

🌟 Guest Speaker: Dr. Guillaume Bourque

  • Position: Professor in the Department of Human Genetics and the Director of Bioinformatics at the McGill Genome Center

🔬Research Paper: Epigenetic variation impacts individual differences in the transcriptional response to influenza infection

  • Theme: Epigenetics

  • Please read the above research paper and prepare any questions you have (2-3 questions is preferable) for Dr. Bourque before the session.

🕗Session Format:

  • Introduction: (~5 min)
    • Get to know the other members and Dr. Bourque
  • Presentation: (~20-25 min)
    • Dr. Bourque will give a brief presentation about his background and introduce the research paper (the details of the paper are in the “research paper” section above).
  • Q&A Session: (~30-40 min)
    • This is your chance to engage directly with Dr. Bourque and ask him any questions you may have. Please prepare questions you may have in advance!
  • Closing Remarks: (~1-2 min)
    • We’ll wrap up the session with any final thoughts and announcements
